How our representatives voted last week on reducing Federal spending
January 31, 2011
Congress voted last week on two bills designed to cut Federal spending. The first was Roll Call # 209 on House Resolution 38. This resolution directed the Budget Committee to reduce non-security spending to the 2008 fiscal year levels or lower. It passed 256 to 165. Rep. Walter Jones "Yes" while Rep. G. K. Butterfield voted "No."
The House also voted to pass, 239-160, a bill to end taxpayer funding for presidential candidates and nominating conventions. This was H.R. 359 and on Roll Call #25 both Rep. Jones and Butterfield voted "No." Rep. Jones was the only North Carolina Republican to vote against the resolution.
