Beware of ethanol gasoline

December 25, 2012
If you're not aware of what E15 gasoline is you should watch the video below.

And beyond how much not knowing could cost you in your pocketbook, you might ponder how our government could be scamming us this way. The answer is "special interest" politics. Watch the video and decide for yourself.

We might add that the damage E15 or even E10 gasoline can do to small engines, such as lawnmowers, motorcycles, weedeaters, and even boat engines is potentially even greater. A member of our staff bought a lawnmower this past summer. After cutting his yard twice the engine would not crank. He took it to the authorized repair shop and they told him it was damaged by E10 gasoline. It cost him over $100 to get it fixed. The owner's manual recommends using 87 octane regular. Not a word about ethanol. But the service man showed the lawnmower owner a "Service Advisory" from Briggs and Stratton that said clearly that gasoline with ethanol will damage the engine.

Be advised.

Ethanol is the biggest political scam in history
    August 04, 2013 | 10:14 AM

Boat engines, lawnmowers, trimmers, on and on and on.
I just cant count up the small engines which have been ruined by ethanol fiasco.
Its a boon for companies selling new ones.
So my question is WHERE can we buy ethanol free gasoline for our many boat and small engines? A local airport?
This entire mess needs to be changed, and there should be regular gas for sale for us who need it.
Get politics out of our lives!

    Ethanol Free Gas

Last time I was in Greenville over a month ago, there was a station at the corner of Greenville Blvd and Red Banks Rd. that claimed on the sign to have ethanol free gas. It also houses a car wash, don't remember the name of the place.

I work in a large power equipment shop in Connecticut we sell about 3000 feet of fuel line a month which is crazy because of this fuel. It not only wrecks the lines it wrecks the engines and customers blame us most of the time. We take carburetors apart and it looks they are 10 years old. Manufactures want nothing to do with this issue. Some help if the customer gets involved.

My Stihl Model 440 purchased 8 years ago which should have lasted a lifetime burned up the cylinder head and piston because the ethanol ruined the carburetor seals causing the machine to lean out and burn up. I am so aggravated!!! Please add another $835.00 to the cost of wasted equipment lost going to ethanol. Who ever.., your grand idea of going to ethanol fuels sucks. You don't have a clue on the cost to consumers.

WTF, where was Stihl with information on this problem. I had no insight that you (Stihl) were not prepared to deal with the ethanol issue. I registered my saw. I used only 89 Octane as recommended in the manual with Stihl 2 cycle oil added to the gas, and Stihl Bar oil. What about all the other Stihl tools I've invested in, Backpack blower, weed whacker, hedge trimmer, leaf vacuum/blower. Can I expect the same return on investment? BURNED UP???? STIHL.....I will not buy any more tools from you until I hear an answer to the ethanol problem. If it was something I did, I would not comment or argue but I did everything your manual said. There were no mailings or emails regarding potential fuel problems. I can't afford you!! Good luck. You lost a customer.
